The Sisters of Mary expanded their mission to Guatemala through the invitation from President Alvaro Arzu and Archbishop Prospero Penados on August 18, 1997. This initiative led to the opening of the Girlstown in Guatemala City on March 25, 1998, which provided crucial support and education for girls in need.
The Sisters furthered their efforts by establishing the Boystown in Guatemala City on March 23, 2001, extending similar resources to boys. On June 23, 2008, they launched a Day Care Center in Nimajuyu, Guatemala City, aimed at assisting young children. Today, the Zona 13 Girlstown, Day Care Center, Medical Clinic, and Zona 6 Boystown collectively care for 1,942 students, exemplifying the Sisters' commitment to improving education and welfare for vulnerable communities in Guatemala.
